Leadership & Contact
A founder-led company today, with a documented plan to formalize a management team and board presence ahead of the IPO target.
Damian Wells
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Damian Wells is a military veteran and MBA-educated operator whose coursework in quantitative methods, financial modeling, and statistical analysis directly underpins the conservative, auditable modeling approach used throughout SunBit's financial projections.
He is a hands-on operator across mining operations, corporate finance, and business formation — the same combination of skills that took SunBit from a solo-mining startup to a pool-mining operation building toward SBA financing and a public listing.
Consistent with the no-salary, pre-IPO compensation posture described on the Company & Operations page, Mr. Wells draws a per diem and a solar-vehicle stipend in place of a salary, with equity options from the Founders/Management/Reserved Pool standing in for cash compensation.
Governance transition, stated candidly
SunBit plans to formalize a small executive team and independent board presence ahead of the IPO target date. Until then, Mr. Wells personally holds operating, financing, and reporting responsibilities — a concentration of responsibility that is also disclosed as a risk factor on the Risk & Shareholder Rights page.
Independent of SunBit
Mr. Wells is personally involved with independent charitable causes — including hunger relief in Gainesville, autism spectrum support, and veteran transitional housing. These commitments are structurally and financially independent of SunBit Mining Corporation and are noted here only as founder background.
A candid, personal letter from the founder
Capitalizing SunBit with 1 BTC rather than cash, and choosing options and a modest per diem over a salary, were not symbolic decisions. They were the same decisions I would make with my own money, because in this case, they are my own money and my own equity. I built this company's financial model with the same discipline I apply to my own portfolio — conservative assumptions, no reliance on price appreciation, and a clear-eyed accounting of what could go wrong.
What would change my view of this opportunity is not a price swing in either direction. It would be a change in the fundamentals: a failure of the energy contract, a structural shift in mining economics that our model doesn't capture, or evidence that pool mining at our scale isn't delivering the forecastable production we're counting on. Short of that, I am building this the way I would want to own it myself.” — Damian Wells, Founder & CEO, SunBit Mining Corporation
